Christmas Tree has been a Spode classic since 1938, when Harold Holdway, a young designer in Spode’s England office, was asked to design a new Christmas pattern especially for the American market. Because Harold had never seen a Christmas tree, in his first sketches, the presents were actually suspended from the branches of the tree, until he was told that the American tradition was to place gifts under the tree, not in it!

With a cork backing and a laminated topside that is decorated with this same signature Christmas Tree design, this six-piece Christmas Tree Placemat Set will bring some festive cheer to your home this holiday season.
